Our First Sunday

We arrived in El Paso last Wednesday and started unpacking, but it didn't take us long to get settled in and having the apartment look the way we'd like it to.  We have been to Walmart 3 times since then though.  We finally decided to get a baby monitor since Esther has her own room and we found that we don't wake up as quick with all the fans running, we don't hear Esther right away.  The monitor helps with that.

I enjoyed being at church today.  We went to the Spanish service around 9am, and then went to Border Town during the English Service.  Border Town is Children's Church here.  It's amazing.  All the kids are in one huge room that has a puppet stage that stretches across an entire wall with special lights and everything.  Today we just watched and observed how they do things.  We were there with Valerie, who was there with the last couple before they answered God's call to send them to Africa.

When we had a meeting with our supervising missionaries and the pastor here last Thursday, we laid out what our responsibilities will be while we're here.  Sundays we're all pastors, through out the week we are to be in the community and help pastor out anyway we can and we are on the team that coordinates mission trips across the border.  The church has apartments, which is where we live, that they have to house volunteers who come.  We get to get to know these volunteers and keep the apartments looking good for the next volunteers.  Pastor has a lot on his plate since there isn't anyone to clean and look after the church anymore, so we've decided to help out in that area during the day when it's too hot to be outside.  We visit with families in the community in the evenings.  We'll also be involved in the weekly Bible studies at different homes.

I think that's about it for our first week here.  I hope you'll continue to keep us in your prayers and your thoughts.  I know I think of you all often and pray that God's Kingdom comes in your communities as well.
